Four anotated photos of diffrent types of lines
In this photograph this train track is made up by lines. There are curved lines on the outside and horizontal lines which are placed diagonal in the middle. Curved lines produce grace and charm in the photograph. They are mainly known for drawing the viewer into a photograph and leading them through the photo to one point and then another. The curve in the train track is an S curve which is very common in photography. It combines both beauty with its shine and strentgh you mainly see this curved S line in path ways and train tracks as shown in this photograph. The aim of having a curved S line in a photograph is to just add more intrest and attract a wider audience. Another type of line in this photograph is horizontal lines that are placed diagonally. These lines represent movement and speed and give this photograph depth as they intersect with other lines. Both digaonl and curved lines both produce a sense of flow and smoothness as they are indicating a journey. Both types of lines are dark coloured which stand out through the autumn background.

In this photograph the tree's are created by vertical lines and if you look closly there are tiny horizontal lines on the stems of the tree's. The vertical lines are very long, thin and some look delicate. These lines run up and down and express height by emphasising how tall the tree's are in the forest. They also stimualte growth and are an intresting repetiative pattern. By having a repetiative pattern this creates depth as it slowly begins to fade the tree's away in the distance. By also having horizontal lines on the tree's break up the shapes and poduce an  intresting pattern on the tree's. Horizontal lines are known to create stability or rest. This is done as the horizonal lines form an calming enhanting forest.

In this photograph the fields of different flowers are separated by thick horizontal lines. These horizontal lines convey peace and relaxation. These horizontal lines go from one end to the other which is easier for the viewer to look at. Aswell as it looking more prefessional. This photograph is very well structured as the horizontal lines are all repeated and in line. There is no horizontal line that stands out. The horizontal lines are just inbedded in the flowers which in my eyes looks very complex and unique. There are always horizontal or vertical lines in nature when viewed up close and if you also look at all manmade creation there are also many horizontal and vertical lines aswell.

In this photograph there is an amazing usage of diagonal lines which expand out from the centre left of the photograph. Theese diagonal lines are a bright green which give a 3D affect to the photograph. This photograph defently draws the viewer in from the lines. As they have an magnificant flow to them which produces an beautiful pattern. The diagonal lines bring depth to this photograph. Also the creativaity of the lines make this photograph very intresting. These diagonal lines are formed from the left coming throught to the right this can be quite useful and natural. These lines are very complex as they dont just appear from one side to the other. The diagonal lines almost curve in repeat to give a much more natural and relaxed movement to them and produce a pattern which is very eye catchy to the viewers.

Own definition of a line

A line connects to points together. Lines can be straight, curvy or even form a circle. They are an essential in life as they appear in almost everything we use or see.

Work Diary

The first photograph I am evaluating is my umbrella edit. This is a close up photograph that contains clear colour and the lines are very obvious to see. This umbrella appears in our every day life. The edit is a very simple object but has been taken to be very engaging. To improve this edit the umbrella should of been taken to be more central as its slightly sitting to the left.

The second photograph I am evaluating is my edit of a girls shirt. This contains lines as the shirt is checkerd which uses a range of lines. This photograph is very clear and sharp and looks very interesting to look at. But to improve on this edit I would take the photo more central and not have the hair in the photograph to put more attention on the lines and make the photograph less busy.

When I was taking my photographs for lines the weather was raining so I think I done very well at capturing some average photographs. This was my first shoot so I didn't know what to expect if i would go back and to develop my lines project i would take more photo's and use different angles such as high and low angles to present lines in a different way.
